H.E. Dr. ADAMA DIENG – Doctor Honoris Causa in Law, is Under-Secretary-General of the UN Special Adviser of the UN Secretary General on Genocide Prevention (2008-2020). He is the Co-Organizer with Dr. Liviu Olteanu of the First (2016) & Second (2019) Global Summit on ‘Religion, Peace, Security’ held at the United Nations, Palais des Nations in Geneva.
Mr Adama Dieng served as the United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Special Adviser of the Secretary-General on the Prevention of Genocide, a position he held from July 2012 to July 2020. He also served as Registrar of the UN International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda from 2001 to 2008. Before joining the United Nations, Mr Dieng was for 10 years the Secretary General of the Geneva-based International Commission of Jurists (1990-2000). While holding the post of Secretary General, Mr Dieng was appointed as the United Nations Independent Expert for Haiti (1995-2000). He also served, in 1993, as Envoy of the UN Secretary-General to Malawi to mediate between the Government and the pressure Groups. He was the driving force behind the establishment of the African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights, and produced also the draft of the African Convention to fight Corruption. In Senegal, Mr Dieng was Registrar at the Supreme Court. He has authored many articles on human rights, democracy and the rule of law. He is a former founding member of the Board of Directors of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance as well as former President of the Martin Ennals Foundation. In recognition of his contribution to the strengthening of the rule of law and the fight against impunity, he was appointed an Honorary Chairman of the Washington-based World Justice Project. He led many fact-finding missions on human rights and rule of law as well as trial observation missions. He has received many honorific distinctions throughout the world, including the Raça Negra Tropheu for his eminent contribution in the fight against racism and racial discrimination; also he is the first person who received the International Award of Excellence “Ambassador for Liberty and Peace Jean Nussbaum & Eleanor Roosevelt” in 2016, from the hand of Dr. Liviu Olteanu, that was acting since 2011-2021 as Secretary General of the AIDLR. Currently, Adama Dieng is a member of the UN Internal Justice Council and the Special Adviser to the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity. Mr Dieng graduated in Law from Senegal and holds a Certificate from the Research Centre of The Hague Academy of International Law and also a Certificate on Homeland Security, Internal and External Security from the Paris Institute of International High Studies. He was conferred the grade of Doctor honoris causa in Law by the University of Exeter.

H.E. Dr. PETRU DUMITRIU – Ambassador of the Council of Europe at the United Nations in Geneva, and the United Nations Inspector. Today he’s senior fellow and lecturer at DiploFoundation.
Petru Dumitriu is a career diplomat, specialized in United Nations matters. He earned his doctorate with a thesis on the United Nations reform. He was deputy permanent representative of Romania to the United Nations, in New York and Geneva, and Ambassador and Permanent Observer of the Council of Europe to the United Nations in Geneva. He served as representative of his country in various governing bodies of United Nations organizations (UNICEF, UNESCO) and in the Bureaus of several General Assembly subsidiary bodies. Between 2016-2020 he worked with the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations system as Inspector, elected by the General Assembly. He authored, among others, the JIU reports on “Knowledge Management in the United Nations system”, “The United Nations – private sector partnership arrangements in the context of the 2030 Agenda”, “Strengthening policy research uptake”, and “Policies and platforms in support of learning. Towards more coherence, coordination and convergence”. He received the Knowledge Management Award in 2017 and the Sustainable Development Award in 2019 for his reports. On 2021, Dr. Liviu Olteanu who acted from 2011-2021 as the Permanent Representative at the United Nations and Secretary General of the AIDLR – organization that has been founded by Jean Nussbaum and Eleanor Roosevelt in 1946 – was honored Dr. Petru Dumitriu with the International Award of Excellence “Ambassador for Liberty and Peace Jean Nussbaum & Eleanor Roosevelt”. Dr. Petru Dumitriu now works as a senior fellow and lecturer at DiploFoundation.
